Cantopop or HK-pop is a massive musical genre in China. The world of Cantopop is a huge Chinese music industry that has its own style and sound. Just like the USA has Country and Western, or Europe has Europop, Cantopop is hugely popular with its fans. It has its own rich and famous stars with fanbases to match any of the names familiar to western audiences.It has its origins in the Shanghai of the 1920s and really took off in the 1970s with television.
