Contemporary Newsletter Xenophobia, please explain?
At our last two Sunday services, we have been exploring the different ministries in our community. The first Sunday, we experienced a Church Expo display and then last Sunday, Fr Rod went through four points of being hospitable. A big thank-you to Julie Reynolds, for arranging a delightful Mothers Day garden tea party. All who attended enjoyed a cup of tea or coffee and cup cakes that were decorated by our JC Kids group. Here is a recap of what we have been doing at the last two Sundays. Being Hospitable on the 9th May When a congregation is truly being church, brings people into: find hope experience belonging extend and receive forgiveness, and discover a sense of purpose and direction Church Expo on the 2nd May Julie hosted the Church Expo and gave a brief overview about the four different tables that were presented. The expo kicked off with a great humours skit by Kerry and her kids about hospitality, well done Kerry and the kids. We had four tables: Liturgy table presented by Fin, Hospitality by Alan, Kerry, & their kids, Pastoral Care by Ann, and Childrens Ministry (JC Kids) by me (Phillip). Everyone moved from table to table learning what each ministry did within our community. It was enjoyable to present the JC Kids table to everyone, I briefly explained what happens in JC Kids and how I used magic to help present stories to the kids. Church Expo was a success and this theme will continue on over the coming weeks on how we can build our ministries in our church. Church Roster June church roster is available, please contact me to nominate for one of the roles on the roster. Ill be sending out an email to registered members with a link to our online version. The online roster can be edited using the link provided in the email that will be sent out for roster nomination. Check your pantry As always, we encourage all to bring in a non-perishable item, such as cans of soup, when you attend church. There are baskets to place your items inside Christ Church. The items are for the Good Samaritans charity that helps those going through hardship. Check your pantry or add an extra item to the shopping list.
