In an effort to compete against the surging demand in the smartphone industry where LG has apparently failed to corner its share of market successfully, the South Korean cellphone giant has decided to give its management some potential overhaul. After almost 3 years of serving the worlds third largest mobile maker, Mr Nam Yong is finally bidding goodbye to his position of the CEO to be replaced by LG International head (and member of the founding family) Koo Bon Joon. LG came to the decision after posting a record loss from the flagship handset business and being warned of a similar loss this quarter due to a lack of strong smartphone models. Under Nam Yongs leadership, the company failed to carve its niche in the growing smartphone market, staying way behind the other dominants like Apples iPhone and Android phones from various manufacturers like Samsung, Motorola and others. LG has now vested its trust in Koo Bon Joon believing his past experiences to help LG rise against the titans. Koo has a deep understanding in technology and extensive experience in broad industries from chemicals, electronics and resources, LG said in a statement. He had also successfully transformed LG Display through difficult times and enhanced profitability of LG International dramatically. Koo Bon Joon will replaceNam Yongeffective Oct. 1, portraying the exigency of the situation.
