Interviews: Bold Tendencies and Frank’s are back in 2011
Posted: June 16, 2011. Filed Under: Interviews, Motilo People, News
South London’s most exciting art installation and hipper than hip bar are back again for 2011 for the fifth year running. Atop a carpark rooftop in Peckham, aka the new old Shoreditch/Dalston/Hoxton, Bold Tendencies and Frank’s Cafe and Campari Bar will assemble an international showcase of sculpture, statement and sippable refreshments from June 30.
Make the journey to SE15 ant you will be rewarded with stunning views stretching from Greenwich to Westminster, an enlightening range of sculpture and installations, a glimpse at well-dressed artsters and a delicious barbecue menu at Frank’s. Bold Tendencies runs until September 30, making full use of the long summer nights.
In addition to the very noshable Frank’s cafe of years past, an auditorium of brass, gold and straw, and a kiosk of polythene and paper will appear on the site. Both are built by Practice Architecture.
The artists creating the 15 large-scale pieces are all aged under 35 and include Eva Berendes, David Brooks, Mircea Cantor, James Capper, Michael Dean, Rachael Champion, Jess Flood-Paddock, Lilah Fowler, Camille Henrot, Matt Keegan & James Richards, Kitty Kraus, Mamiko Otsubo, Bettina Pousttchi and The Bruce High Quality Foundation.
James Capper, a Kent artist and RCA graduate working in South London invited us to his studio in the lead up to the launch. James’ contribution to Bold Tendencies are an elegant array of machine claws that would not look out of place on a road plant.
