I'm Not One Of Those 'Love Thy Neighbor' Christians
Everybody has this image of "crazy Christians" based on what they hear in the media, but it's just not true. I'm here to tell you there are lots of Christians who aren't anything like the preconceived notions you may have. We're not all into "turning the other cheek." We don't spend our days committing random acts of kindness for no credit.

10 things IT groups need to know about The Rapture
A pastor and radio network founder predicts that on Saturday, May 21, at 6 p.m. The Rapture will take place, an event believed by many Christians to start the end of the world. To avoid the end of your network, here's 10 things you need to know.
Where's the Christian Condemnation of the Norway Massacre?
In the event you have no opinions on Anders Breivik, you’re a moron. This is why I’m surprised that I haven’t seen or heard from Christianity's leaders on the matter. I’ve gone from the Vatican to the Saddleback Ministries, and then some, and I’ve got to say I’ve been getting nothing back in response from all but one (and to add an insult, that one made a precursory statement of no comment). The only thing I could gather from my attempted correspondence with Christian leadership is that Rick Warren doesn’t want to say anything unless he and his people know my angle. It’s like they’re all too afraid of their own shady scriptures to condemn them, or perhaps they condone it and they just don’t want the non-Christian parts of the world to know their true colors.
One on One With The Furies' Rikke Korff
Rikke Korff, the talent behind the Furies, is no spring chicken. At 39, shes been around the block a few times," but her Asian-inspired sportswear, which infuses the great American love for relaxed basics with the cutting-edge design of her native Denmark has a feel and look thats exuberant, youthful, and still ageless. That combo of fun yet classic looks has won the label fans in the celebrity realm: Karen O, Sharin Foo of the Ravonettes, Dakota Fanning and Emily Blunt all wear the line and Korff answered some of our prying questions from her home in Venice, CA. ELLE: When did you start designing? Korff: When I was about 12 all my drawings started turning into fashion illustrations. No more cars, princesses or landscapes at the end of my pen. ELLE: Describe your aesthetic? Korff: Bold, direct, simple and usually with a functional bonus. ELLE: Your customer? Korff: The alpha female! Strong and bold females of all ages. ELLE: What is your design philosophy? Korff: Remember to hold creativity and integrity high and never do things just because I like them, but strive to create for the sake of improving. ELLE: Where does the Asian influence come from? Korff: Originally it came from a t-shirt I made 15 years ago with a very sexual Asian style print. I changed the style of the shirt to match the print better and basically turned it into a kimono tee. For years I knew the idea of uniting the masculine, American, jersey with Asian aesthetics and grace could be the foundation for a great brand. It feels inclusive and worldly; it invites cultures in. ELLE: Do you find American sportswear a tough world to approach, or a fun challenge? Korff: Anything tough is always fun, too. It's more demanding. Having to rise to a challenge makes you better. I also feel that a lot of brands out there look very similar, so it's fun to throw something a little different into the mix. ELLE: What challenges as a younger designer have you faced in this economy? Korff: Our biggest challenge is the retailers. They're having a very hard time and many of them need to focus. It's difficult for a new brand to get floor space, though I do feel like many retailers have shown great interest in what we're doing. As sell through is proven things became rapidly easier, so we feel optimistic! ELLE: Who are your favorite designers? Korff: Generally I appreciate creatives that know what an original idea is and can execute such ideas. They are rare unfortunately. Designer favorites change for me, it depends on the show and the season. I think the latest Dior couture show was absolutely amazing, and the last Viktor & Rolf collection. The conceptual ideas were so beautifully executed. I also appreciate Karl Lagerfeld's humor, but I'm not always impressed with the line. However, when Chanel is good it's one of my favorites. ELLE: Have they impacted your own work? Korff: Yes, they make me demand more of myself; I think Chanel was the brand that made me want to be a designer. Coco Chanel had great aesthetic sensibility and purpose. ELLE: What's the first designer item you bought? Korff: I think it was a bright red tailored, very hourglass jacket from Jean Paul Gaultier. We're talking 1988. ELLE: Do you still have it? Korff: Yes, in a garment bag in my US closet, ready for another revisit! It's a Gaultier classic in the best way. ELLE: What was your theme of your recent collection? Korff: Dark. There's lots of black, grey and silver. The title was 'Shape Shifters' so half-woman, half-animal. ELLE: Where do you want to be in ten years? Korff: The plan is to add more brand ideas to The Korff Kounsil [a designer collective comprised of Korff and several other like-minded iconoclasts per the PR description]. In the fall of 2011 we're launching a youthful brand for both women and men. More brands are planned for the following years. A leather shoe brand, a frames brand and a more avant-garde collection will also be in the pipeline over the next five years. I'm also dying to do a project with Chanel. So, lots to work towards. ELLE: Do you want a store in every major city, magazine covers, etc? Korff: Yes and yes. But all in due time. Nothing happens overnight and I'm a pretty patient girl! The Furies is sold at Oak in New York and Fred Segal in Los Angeles. AMINA AKHTAR
