Broad protest against European data retention law
About one hundred organizations wrote a public letter calling for the end of data retention laws. This shows once again that the government stands alone in their battle for draconian control over the internet and private networks. These organizations cite the loss of press freedom, privacy and high costs as their main reasons. The letter was delivered to the European commissioners Cecilia Malmstrm, Viaviane Reding and Neelie Kroes.
The European Commission is one of the most undemocratic organizations on the planet, so theyll probably just do what they want anyway. Nevertheless, Im really happy some organizations are standing up and asking the important questions.
Eleven of these organizations are from the Netherlands.
