World change is only possible if each individual does his part. Looking for something to realize this vision, I met Ultimate Frisbee and its Spirit of the Game.So twelve years ago, the path for Ultimate Frisbee promotion as a sport to better society began.Freestyle was a fun game since the eighties but not my main challenge, especially because it was not easy and there were no teachers or videos to learn in my city. Any way i never stopped jamming with Mauricio Mesa an old friend of mine, but for nine years my passion was Ultimate and its Spirit of the game, till a knee injury made me drop out competitive practice. I began to think on spreading Freestyle by the same time (five years ago) and contacted Tommy and Pipo to work on the idea of bringing top players to hold clinics and exhibitions in our city. Two years later Toddy Brodeur came to Medellin and sowed a seed by teaching to the first generation of freestylers, among who are Pablo Azul, Juan David and Juan Piercing. Some others of that first generation still play but prefer Ultimate.After Toddy's visit, Juan David and I began to share learning, jamming and joy, to grow and improve our game. Juanda also decided to drop out Ultimate like me. Pablo Azul came along a couple of years ago adding his part to the team of three old Ultimate players now dedicated to jam. By the rows of destiny, we had the chance to do a show for the mayor in an important city event, giving us opportunity to start the project, Freestyle Frisbee in Medellín.My name is Alfonso López (Fon/Fonso) the dreamer who thinks Frisbee is the chance to change the world in a better place and who leads the idea to 'spread the jam' (to promote) in our city, our country and beyond.Thanks to INDER (Recreation and sports institute of Medellin) the project got funded to bring a top freestyle Frisbee player and Tom Leitner was the one elected for coming.
