Paul Van Scott makes incredible digital mosaic images using anything and everything. Gone are the days of tile and glass mosaics. Van Scott uses objects related to the final image to create amazing art pieces. Coke Bottles made of bottle caps, Santa Claus made of MM candies, Abraham Lincoln made of pennies and New York Yankee Derek Jeter made of baseballs just to name a few. The wild part is the detail. From a short distance you can't even tell you're looking at a mosaic. "At first I did the usual pictures made of tiny photos" says Van Scott. "I had lots of success and was commissioned to do corporate logos and a magazine cover or two, but I really wanted to get creative and produce something cool you just don't ever see". "Thats tough, I really like the movies 'Back to the Future' and the original 'Willy Wonka' so I made a few tribute pieces that came out well". "I have done Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka in M&Ms, Poker Chips and movie scenes, a bit much I know but he is a great colorful character that fits the medium". Some other remarkable works include the NASA logo made of mission patches, Chicago Bulls star Derrick Rose made of the Skittles candies he loves, a Chicago Blackhawks logo made of hockey pucks, Bono made of U2 albums, Mickey Mantle made of Topps 1952 cards, a Pirate Ship made of real gold and silver coins and John F Kennedy made of campaign buttons. The list goes on, he has over 400 pieces. Van Scott has even sold directly to his subject matter but won't drop names. "Yeah, a few here and there. A cast member of Seinfeld, a number one NFL draft pick, some MLB players. One of the stars of the classic movie "A Christmas Story" bought every signed print I had of himself. There have been some more. I never know if they are buying them because they like them or they are trying to get them out of public view, ha ha". Our guess is the the former.

Heres the latest from Nick Cafardo of The Boston Globe: Carfardo says Derek Jeter should be okay in the free-agent market this winter despite hitting a career-low .260. The Yankees are likely to take care of him with another massive contract. Albert Pujols will also get a massive contract from the St. Louis Cardinals or another team when he becomes a free agent after next season. Cafardo wonders if Adrian Beltre and Paul Konerko will stay in Boston and Chicago respectively. Will they priority their enjoyment of playing in their cities or will they go after the big dollars in free agency? Cafardo questions if the San Diego Padres choke, do they deal Adrian Gonzalez in the off-season? Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports heard that they wont do that. Cafardo speculates that the Red Sox will sign Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Scott Downs in the off-season. According to a Major League source, the Red Sox contribute $90 million to revenue sharing so the Pirates, Marlins, and Royals can get rich. An NL scout confirmed Cafardos thoughts that Wakefield would be good for another year or two in the National League, but he may not be able to hit and run the bases at the age of 44. Konerko would be a nice fit for the Red Sox, but he loves living in Arizona and enjoys playing in Chicago. It wouldnt be shocking to see White Sox chairman Jerry Reinsdorf keep Konerko around for another two or three years. The Marlins are on the growing list of teams that would love to have Red Sox catcher Victor Martinez. A Major League source close to Cafardo says former Padres GM Kevin Towers only had one conversation with Diamondbacks president Derrick Hall as of Friday.
