The yankee painter Helen Frankenthaler may be a second-generation abstract expressionist widely thought of "the country's most distinguished living feminine artist." a replacement York town native, Frankenthaler was graduated from the Dalton college, where she studied with the Mexican painter Rufino Tamayo. once earning her B.A. degree at Bennington school in Vermont, she moved back to the big apple.
