Spiral Jetty Earthwork
Well this is cool enough: "Robert Smithson's monumental earthwork Spiral Jetty (1970) is located on the Great Salt Lake in Utah. Using black basalt rocks and earth from the site, the artist created a coil 1500 feet long and 15 feet wide that stretches out counterclockwise into the translucent red water."
Problem with GWT and Tomcat or Jetty
Hi,I have a problem with my project of GWT. The problem consists in myweb application only runs in Eclipse, if I charge the war file in thetomcat or jetty it doesn't run. The catalina' log shows that tomcatstopped in the sentence 'GWT20' which is written by the RPCCopy class.I'm using Gilead 1.2.3 in order to integrate hibernate in my project. It could be that my war is wrong but the strangest thing is that if Imigrate my project from GWT2.1 to GWT 2.0, my application runs perfectalso in tomcat or Jetty. Can anybody helps me?Thanks!Bye-- You received this message because you are subscribed to t
APOD: 2010 December 4 - Sunset at the Spiral Jetty
In dwindling twilight at an August day's end, these broad dark bands appeared in the sky for a moment, seen from Robert Smithson's Spiral Jetty on the eastern shore of Utah's Great Salt Lake. Outlined by rays of sunlight known as crepuscular rays, they are actually shadows cast by clouds near the distant western horizon, the setting Sun having disappeared from direct view behind them. The cloud shadows are parallel, but seem to converge in the distance because of perspective. Coiled in the salt-encrusted lake surface, Smithson's most famous earthwork provides a dramatic contrast to the converging lines. The Spiral Jetty was constructed in 1970, when the water level was unusually low and was completely submerged in a few years as the level rose. Now just above water again, it has spent much of its existence submerged in the briny lake.

A Winter Pilgrimage to Utahs Spiral Jetty
Robert Smithsons Spiral Jetty (1970) is arguably the most famous, least directly experienced work in the Land Art cannon. Most know the work from iconic aerial photographs, some by Smithsons accompanying text and some by his weird and monotonous film. Built in 1970, the 6,650 tons of black basalt paved in a 1,500 foot long counter-clockwise coil was underwater and invisible for nearly 30 years until the early 2000s. During the first days of 2011, artist Suzanne Stroebe and I ventured into the frigid landscape of Northern Utah to Rozel Point, the home of Spiral Jetty on the Gre
The Spiral Jetty: Massive Earth Sculpture in Utah [PICS]
Massive sculptures are fascinating and Robert Smithson?s Spiral Jetty walks the line between nature and the artificial. In 1970, he built a 1500-foot long, 15 foot-wide counterclockwise coil out of mud, salt crystals and rocks at the Great Salt Lake in Utah. This famous piece of land art is one with its environment and dependent on it.
