Bielat Ready To Debate, But Where's Barney? |
It wasn’t that long ago when Congressman Barney Frank was telling the media that he was ready to debate any candidate in the general election. Well it’s general election time and Mr. Frank has gone into seclusion. On one hand I’m happy for challenger Sean Bielat because he won’t have to don a rain jacket for when Frank rambles, but on the other hand, the voters of Massachusetts Fourth District have a right to see these two candidates debate. It would be a classic debate. Recession politics (Frank) vs. Prosperity politics (Bielat). Blame everyone else (Frank) vs. Accountability (Bielat). Washington DC Elite (Frank) v. The working man’s candidate (Bielat). Longtime big money politician (Frank) v. War Hero (Bielat). If the playing field is even, then Bielat will school Frank. Frank knows it and now he’s hiding. He just wants to ride out this election and hope that his liberal loyalists give him another term. With only a few days left until the mid-term election, Barney Frank has yet to confirm a single debate with his opponent Sean Bielat. “Barney's running away from his record, his votes, his previous statements, and now the debates,” said Sean Bielat, the Marine and businessman challenging Rep. Frank. “I have already agreed to several debates, but Barney keeps stalling. The people of the Fourth District deserve to hear from both of us at the same time. ” The Bielat campaign is aware of at least six debate offers from credible organizations, such as media outlets and the League of Women Voters, that the Frank camp has yet to confirm. It’s typical for media outlets to first get preferred dates from the incumbent before contacting the challenger to schedule, so there may be more. Mr. Bielat has agreed to all these third-party debate requests. Presently awaiting Mr. Frank’s confirmation: 1. Fox25 News at 10 with Maria Stephanos 2. League of Women Voters 3.
