El viernes 18 de junio de 2010, en el diario elPeridico es descrita la construccin y se informa que lleva el nombre del otrora Presidente de Guatemala, Jorge Ubico Castaeda, incluyendo una fotografa que ilustra tal decisin. La periodista autora del reportaje consigna la defensa y rechazo expuesto por tres historiadores respecto a que el paso a desnivel lleve dicho nombre, por tratarse de un personaje de no gratos recuerdos en Guatemala, toda vez que aunque en su gobierno de 14 aos (1931-1944) construy algunas edificaciones importantes, su estilo de dirigir los destinos del pas se bas en la delacin y persecucin de los que consideraba enemigos polticos del rgimen, o bien eran clasificados como comunistas, acudiendo a la tortura en las crceles para obtener confesiones y al asesinato disfrazado con el ropaje de la justicia, fusilamientos, cuando no la aplicacin de la tristemente clebre Ley Fuga.
